Microsoft’s Server & Tools business faces intense competition in the $30B+ database market. We are now executing on a plan to grow our share of this market by competing for mission critical workloads, while defending against commoditization driven by open source alternatives such as MySQL. At the same time, we recognize the unique challenges and opportunities we face as the industry embraces the cloud computing model, and that long-term success against the competition can only come by “changing the game” with our cloud offerings. We are looking for a strong business leader to equip our field to win against the competition in this changing landscape.
As Senior Product Manager, Compete Field Enablement, you will own our “on the ground” performance against the competition. You will help the field be effective in delivering the right competitive messages at the right time to customers. You will develop the competitive content, evidence, and readiness the field needs to succeed in competitive selling situations. You will collaborate with corporate and subsidiary marketing leaders as well as field sellers to achieve success.
Specific responsibilities will include the following:
• Define and execute on a comprehensive Compete field enablement strategy to improve seller and field marketer resources, skills and readiness to win against the competition
• Partner with product management, subsidiary marketing, segment leadership, and field sellers to develop and refine content and evidence to win in competitive selling situations
• Provide guidance to subsidiaries on development of Compete plans and execution of Compete activities at the subsidiary level
• Analyze, monitor and improve field performance in winning “on the ground” vs. the competition, identifying emerging trends and giving feedback to leadership
Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with at least 7 years of related work experience in enterprise software sales, marketing, or services. MBA and direct customer-facing experience are preferred. Experience with Oracle database technologies is a plus.
Candidate must be proactive and comfortable with ambiguity, able to prioritize effectively, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive them to completion. Proven ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines and motivate others to produce outstanding results is essential. Strong presentation and communication skills, both oral and written, and strong interpersonal skills are required. This position is based in Redmond, WA.
