    Organization & Team Description


    Oracle Product Marketing is responsible for product marketing, competitive intelligence and market intelligence for Oracle’s entire suite of solutions spanning Applications, Middleware, Databases, System Management, Server, Storage and Services.




    The Storage Product Marketing team participates in every stage of the product life cycle to ensure that storage products and solutions meet the needs of users within specific markets and to maximize the revenue derived from those solutions.  This team collaborates with multiple product management, engineering and non-storage product marketing groups to define complete solutions, define proof points for those solutions, and market those solutions to maximize revenue and recognition for Oracle.  This team creates marketing plans and executes them with the campaigns team to promote Oracle storage products in business computing environments as well as collaborates with field marketing to implement plans, and measure and report on progress within the areas they cover.

    Position Description


    Senior Product Director, Product Marketing – Storage




    We are looking for an experienced storage marketing professional to drive a set of integrated marketing activities and deliverables that will increase Oracle visibility in the enterprise storage market, differentiate Oracle’s solutions, and create demand for those products and solutions.  This position requires excellent communications and team building skills, a strong understanding of business computing storage requirements, the competitive and market dynamics in that market, and proven results working in distributed, cross-functional environments.




    This person will be a key contributor to the Oracle product marketing team, including creating messaging, content and demand generation activities for storage as part of Oracle Optimized Solutions as well as Oracle’s industry leading Flash and Fibre Channel disk arrays products.




    This person will work with product management, global campaigns and sales teams to ensure that this messaging is aligned to product capabilities and the needs of both direct and channel sales organizations.  This position requires tight collaboration with server, database, and applications product marketing and Oracle optimized solution team.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:




    Develop go-to-market plans for Oracle storage products including Flash and Fibre Channel arrays – with a focus on the integration with business computing requirements and datacenter transformations

    Collaborate with product management, optimized solutions, engineering and industry teams to integrate Oracle storage products into complete solutions

    Develop and communicate differentiated value propositions and messaging for Oracle’s storage products and solutions built with them, and work with product teams to create  clear proof points that illustrate these value propositions.

    Develop content for webcasts, seminars, websites and other customer facing assets and selectively deliver that content

    Work closely with field marketing to define and implement various aspects of storage campaigns

    Maintain a strong understanding of the overall storage marketplace, unified storage competition and alternative solutions to identify and advocate for breakout opportunities.


    Critical Skills Needed for the Job


    This person must have experience with marketing storage solutions for Oracle database, middleware and application environments.  They must have a thorough understanding of competitive products and marketing strategies, and be able to differentiate Oracle solutions from the competitive offerings.  This person will be a leading individual contributor in the storage product marketing team and leader of cross-functional activities involving multiple product management, engineering and product marketing groups to define complete solutions, define proof points for those solutions, and market those solutions to maximize revenue and recognition for Oracle.  Work is often complex and deadline driven, and the successful individual must be able to balance multiple important and urgent deliverables with a longer term view.  A broad knowledge of business computing and systems is critical since this person will be called on to contribute to activities beyond their day-to-day focus on 7-level Oracle solutions.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Minimum of 5 years experience in marketing storage arrays and/or solutions

    In-depth knowledge of the role of storage in datacenter environments, and how current industry trends will effect customer demand and competitive offerings

    Demonstrated success in defining and implementing marketing strategies that cross organizational boundaries

    Demonstrated success in implementing end-to-end marketing activities involving multiple products, groups, audiences and deliverables

    Proven communication and writing skills with the ability to effectively present to business and technical audiences

    Demonstrated leadership and creativity

    Undergraduate degree or graduate degree in engineering, science or business.  MBA or equivalent business experience preferred.


    Work Location: HQ. San Francisco Bay area based candidates preferred.

    Travel Component: Minimal (less than 15%)
