Here’s your opportunity to manage the global event strategy for Microsoft’s flagship brand – Windows.
    Microsoft is looking for a Global Event Marketing Manager who will develop and drive large-scale event strategy, integrated marketing strategy and manage overall technical content submission, development and review process for Windows technologies, including Windows 7, Windows Live and Internet Explorer at events around the world. This position requires extensive cross-group coordination at all levels, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive collaborative discussions and decisions with all key stakeholders and executives. The ideal candidate has previous experience with the technical content development process, is able to translate business objectives into event marketing strategies and create compelling, memorable events that drive key messages to target audiences.
    This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Product Management and Product Marketing team leads to help translate the broad product strategy into event strategy and content for our employees, partners and customers. You will interface across all business groups at all levels to ensure synergy of content and events and be a catalyst to division business leaders and content stakeholders to ensure appropriate messaging. Your focus is working with the event content stakeholders to drive quality content, manage event reviews with upper management and necessary participants, and meet event deadlines for a successful execution.
    Additional Responsibilities include:
    1. Develop strategic event plans supporting key marketing initiatives
    a. Determine presence, sponsorship and participation levels for each Event based on goals, objectives and budget
    2. Set the vision and indentify key objectives for each event
    3. Ensure tactical event plans and creative execution are carried out effectively and within budget
    4. Develop multiple project milestones, event plans, and contingency plans as needed based on budget, timing, and business need
    5. Drive event staffing, on-site coordination, risk mitigation, and conflict resolution as needed
    6. Manage ongoing communications with core partners, show organizers, vendors, and internal cross-functional marketing teams to ensure on-time and aligned execution
    7. Drive content decisions for the event/track, in partnership with the Content Owner/Stakeholder
    a. In partnership with the content owner/stakeholder, define and drive goals, objectives and content for the tracks held during the event.
    8. Content management and orchestration
    a. Submit and manage all content for sessions, labs, theater presentations, etc. as well as supportive assets (white papers, case studies, etc).
    b. Communicate and drive the content development process and timeline to the content owners/stakeholders and speakers to ensure overall Event milestones are met
    c. Drive and manage content review meetings with all key stakeholders (content owners, speakers, Exec reviewers)
    • Candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant marketing experience and proven successes in a variety of marketing disciplines and posses a working knowledge of Microsoft’s technologies and business strategy.
    • A thorough understanding of the marketplace, the industry, and our customers and partners is strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated excellence in event management, project management, marketing communication, and budget management are critical for success
    • Strong project management and cross-group skills, including the ability to get what you need from others while working around their own legitimate priorities
    • Adaptability, flexibility and the ability to do the right thing under pressure and tight deadlines
    • Conviction and courage to drive decisions and defend positions as appropriate
    • Excellent analytical, problem resolution, decision making, and strategic thinking skills
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Experience in driving messaging or branding strategies from value propositions and messaging frameworks
    • Ability to distill and act on feedback from a variety of sources
    • Managing to deadlines and attention to detail
    • Domestic and light international travel required
