    The Windows Consumer Product Management team is hiring a Product Manager to help us win in the very competitive marketplace for consumer PCs. Our team’s mission is to gather intelligence and create business strategies which will help to drive awareness, preference and purchase among consumers for the Windows Client business. In this job, you will be asked to think strategically, put yourself in the mindset of our partners and competitors, influence multi-million dollar marketing campaigns, future versions of our product, and drive high-level executive thinking around business strategy.

    The Product Manager in this role will have the challenging assignment to deeply understand consumers’ PC purchase drivers, what about PC quality matters most, and call out what we need to do as an extended ecosystem to win customers for Windows PCs against competitors that live both above and below us. The Product Manager will have the opportunity to evangelize these strategies both internally with Engineering, OEM and other Product Groups, and externally with PC manufacturers, retail partners and others.

    Key responsibilities:

    Market Research Planning & Analysis: Understand the latest data about consumer, manufacturer and channel preferences, behaviors and motivations, and ever changing PC categories and technologies to determine what motivates consumers to choose specific PCs, and why consumers might chose PCs over other consumer electronics and technology.

    Deliver Research & Develop Strategies: Work with Engineering, Market Research, Marketing and other teams to design and run both qualitative and quantitative market studies.

    Communicate the vision and influencing the future: Package the best strategies into comprehensive and compelling stories, evangelize and deliver the PC Quality and Purchase Drivers messages directly to the relevant constituencies around the globe including future product plans.

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

    Overall, we will be looking for a detail oriented person with strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, communication, and cross-group collaboration skills. The Product Manager must have demonstrated experience in discerning and defining key customer and partner needs through data analysis. Market research and experience working with advertising agencies is preferred. Cultural awareness and global understanding of consumers would be helpful. The role also requires strong fundamental knowledge about client Windows, Windows Live, and Internet Explorer. Strong program design, project management and influence and negotiation skills are highly desirable. Technical knowledge and background in core PC technologies is a plus, as is familiarity with competitive computing platforms.

    A BA/BS is required, preferably in marketing or similar discipline.

    Location:

    The location of this position is in Redmond. The Product Manager should expect to travel about 10-15% of the time which may include some overseas trip.
