The Global Public Business Planning & Marketing Operations team acts as a global internal consulting group supporting the MLT and PLT to identify and develop global business opportunities. .
The role of the team is to drive strategic initiatives and identify profitable business opportunities.
The team is also responsible for managing PLT projects and owning short-mid term investigative efforts. This team is responsible for providing real-time insights as it relates to public market trends/data & competitive insights (including market share analysis and scenario-planning.)
The Public MLT and PLT rely on the business planning team for analytical expertise in critical areas such as priceband performance, identifying profit pools, as well as margin analysis and preparation of ELT presentations and material.
A key element to effectively executing on the annually defined Public financial and strategic goals is having a deep understanding of our Public financial operations, our customer set, and the markets served. To meet the needs of the business, the Global Public Marketing Analytics & Business Planning Team is looking for a high performing individual with a proven track record of success to fill an open position as a Global Public Marketing Consultant.
Dell is undergoing a highly strategic transformation that includes sales, marketing and services. At the center of the transformation is a shift from selling/ servicing computers and entry-level servers to offering enterprise, storage and software solutions. This transformation requires significant investments in storage and solution sales specialists. WW PUB must determine the effectiveness of its value solutions investments and be able to re-direct opex to maximize returns. The summary of the role is to measure ROI on BVS/solution/specialist investments in a globally consistent manner across WW PUB.
Understanding the impact of these sales investments will require a detailed understanding of which regions and verticals are receiving the specialist investments. Further, we need to provide a measure of return (ROI) that includes acct. level growth/profit trends, RAD tracking, SOW changes, time to revenue/margin and developing mechanisms to understand P&L impact of various opex investments. This will involve a strong understanding of buy power, vertical/regional compares (and normalization of unique factors) plus excellent coordination and engagement skills with regional sales & marketing executives and regional BI teams. This function will lead the development of a global dashboard for presentation to executive leadership and requires a strong understanding of account level metrics and win/loss analysis.
This role requires extensive experience of sales & marketing processes; it will report to the Director of Bz planning. This senior consultant will work closely with finance, sales ops and regional marketing teams to develop regular reporting, create and circulate measurement methods as well as present to leadership.
This role will be high visibility with outputs being utilized by the Business Unit President as well as the Sales and Marketing leadership and will be global in scope. The role also requires synthesizing data through various sources, interviews, presentations, etc and merging into a story with hypotheses, headlines, back-up, etc. Often requires the ability to apply a logical framework to draw out key insights.
Based on the characteristics of this role, it is critical that this individual has a strong sense of business analysis and can work effectively in a global environment where collaboration with teams across all regions will be critical to their success.
• Ability to interact with Executive Directors and add value in roundtable discussion, successfully present and at times, push back on executives
• 8-12 years experience in management consulting, market/industry analysis, financial/business planning or related experience is required.
• Strong financial and analytical skills and working knowledge of a P&L.
• Extensive experience of sales & marketing processes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent presentation skills.
• Strong ability to motivate and achieve results through others.
