    Delivering against brand advertising goals in a digital environment is one of the biggest challenges for marketers and publishers today. As TV and print media consumption increasingly moves online, our industry is being challenged to enable advertising budgets to follow. Microsoft is leading innovation in this area, and the decisions we make now will shape the future of brand advertising. If you’d like to join the leadership team that drives those decisions, then the Brand Display Business Group (BDBG) is the place for you.
    We run a multi-billion dollar brand advertising business today, and we will drive its growth moving forward.
    The Director of Brand Advertising Strategy will be a member of the BDBG leadership team and will be responsible for developing clear recommendations about how Microsoft should compete in brand advertising in the digital realm. Our work is often hypothesis-based; always data-driven, customer-centric and actionable; and developed hand-in-hand with senior leadership across business, engineering and other partner teams across the company. That means that what we do results in tangible impact to Microsoft’s bottom-line – and to that of our clients.
    We’re looking to add a Director of Brand Advertising strategy to:
    § Develop and communicate Microsoft Advertising’s all-up global brand advertising business strategy
    § Develop and communicate Microsoft Advertising’s all-up global creative strategy
    § Develop a cohesive framework to drive the team’s social, video and InApp product strategies
    § Land the brand business and product strategies, in partnership with executives across Microsoft
    § Track key competitive and industry trends, and help develop strategies and action plans to harness them
    § Collaborate with division and corporate strategy teams to align the BDBG plans with top-down strategic goals and to influence the evolution of strategy at the division level.
    § Make buy/build/partner recommendations, work with business development to create negotiation strategies and deal structures, and participate in negotiations
    § Translate strategies into business and engineering investment priorities
    § Anchor strategy work streams by developing key modeling, research, analysis and communication materials
    The successful candidate has a deep, practical understanding of the digital advertising industry and brand advertising in particular; is a highly-motivated self-starter with a successful track record of developing and landing strategy and buy/build/partner recommendations with senior executives, partner teams and peers; superior project management, communication and analytical skills; and a personal persuasiveness that enables him or her to impact key executive decisions.
    She or he is motivated by thought leadership and impact — and wants to be part of an organization where the decisions we make, and the scale of the investments we undertake, have the potential to change the face of brand advertising.
    The successful candidate also has a strong passion for technology and brings a unique combination of demonstrated skills in:
    § Creating structure and definition around uncertain, complex and/or ambiguous business problems
    § Collaborating and driving to outcomes across multi-disciplinary teams
    § Qualitative and quantitative analysis to support decision making
    § Opportunity sizing
    § Financial modeling
    § Market research and analysis
    § Macro & microeconomics
    § Competitive analysis / game theory
    § Oral and written communication
    § Excel and PowerPoint
    He or she also has:
    § A minimum of 7-10 years of demonstrated post-college work experience in finance, strategy or new product commercialization at an online media or high tech company, top-tier consulting firm, and/or technology-focused investment banking, venture capital, or private equity firm.
    § A BS/BA degree
    MBA; study in mathematics, economics, finance or engineering; and relevant advertising industry experience preferred.
