The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), the state’s leading association dedicated to the promotion and economic advancement of Georgia’s technology industry, today announced the launch of the Technology Tweet Tournament.

Partnering with Arketi Group, a high-tech business-to-business public relations and digital marketing firm, TAG has organized a social media tournament designed to crown the state’s top technology tweeter.

“The Technology Tweet Tournament is an exciting way to engage Georgia’s technology community and support TAG’s efforts to raise local, national and global awareness about the State’s thriving technology sector,” said Tino Mantella, president and CEO of TAG. “Our 16 players represent some of the best minds and companies in Georgia’s technology community, and the competition to be the top technology tweeter in the state is going to be tough.”

Sixteen of Georgia’s top technology tweeters will participate in the Twitter tournament beginning March 20. The competitors seeded by the selection committee include the following:

Each player has only one tweet per round that must include the hashtag #WhereGALeads and a link to TAG’s latest video,GEORGIA: The Future for Technology. Once the player tweets, it is up to his or her followers to retweet the original post.

The official scoring committee will track the retweets of the original tweet over a 24 hour period for each round. The player with the most retweets will advance to the next round in the competition.

“Social media competitions like TAG’s Technology Tweet Tournament are effective in driving awareness, engaging the community, and generating a rich online dialogue between like-minded peers,” said Mike Neumeier, APR, principal at Arketi Group. “This is a highly creative and ambitious effort that TAG and Arketi have worked together to formulate, and it is anyone’s guess who will be crowned the Technology Tweet Tournament Champion.”

The Tweet Sixteen will go head-to-head March 20-23 with tip-off times each day at 9 a.m. and noon. The Tweet Eight will play March 26-27 with tip-off times at 9 a.m. and noon. The Follow-Me Four will duke it out March 29-30 with tip-off at noon. The final two will face off in the Technology Tweet Championship Match on April 2 at noon.
